Dubai’s taxi sector is riding a wave of impressive momentum in the first half of 2025, witnessing a solid 7% increase in total trips compared to the same stretch last year. The number of journeys surged to 59.5 million, up from 55.7 million, while passenger count also climbed from 97 million to 103.5 million.

Hala Taxi and Driver Growth

Hala Taxi, a key player in Dubai’s taxi landscape, bolstered its market share—from 40.3% to 41.3%, a definite win for the brand. Meanwhile, the number of active drivers edged up from approximately 13,000 to nearly 14,000, reflecting both operational expansion and growing mobility demand across the city.

Improving Service Speed

Service speed and efficiency also took a leap. In the first half of 2024, about 70% of Hala Taxi trips recorded vehicle arrival times under four minutes. Fast forward to H1 2025, and 74% of trips reached customers in under 3.5 minutes—a small but meaningful improvement that speaks to enhanced responsiveness and customer satisfaction.

This rise in taxi usage is a piece of a larger mobility picture—Dubai’s public transport ecosystem continues to evolve. Metro, tram, buses, marine services, taxis, and shared mobility options collectively served more riders in H1 2025 than a year earlier, reflecting strong overall demand and the success of investment in diversified transit solutions.
