Dubai’s public transport and shared mobility sector delivered strong performance in 2025, reflecting the emirate’s continued investment in smart infrastructure and sustainable mobility solutions. According to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), total ridership across public transport, shared mobility, and taxi services reached 802.1 million passengers, up from around 747.1 million in 2024, marking a growth rate of 7.4%. The average daily ridership rose to approximately 2.2 million passengers.
The figures highlight the growing reliance on modern transportation solutions, supported by population growth, expanding tourism activity, and the development of flexible mobility services. Total trips during the year reached about 167.3 million, including nearly 120 million taxi trips and more than 41 million shared mobility trips.
Dubai Metro remained the most widely used mode of transport, accounting for about 37% of total ridership, with approximately 294.7 million passengers across the Red and Green Lines. Key stations such as BurJuman, Al Rigga, Union, Mall of the Emirates, and Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall ranked among the busiest, underscoring the metro’s central role in connecting commercial and tourist hubs. Taxis captured a 26% share of users, while public buses accounted for 25%. Shared mobility services increased their share to 9%, while marine transport and Dubai Tram maintained smaller shares of roughly 2% and 1%, respectively.
Operationally, public buses transported about 197.2 million passengers in 2025, marine transport served 18.4 million riders, and Dubai Tram carried around 9.9 million passengers. Taxi services recorded 209 million riders, reflecting a 4% increase compared to 2024.
Looking ahead, the RTA plans to expand dedicated lanes for buses and taxis during 2025 and 2026 by adding six new routes spanning 13 kilometers, bringing the total length of dedicated corridors to 20 kilometers. These enhancements are expected to increase ridership by 10%, improve bus arrival times by 42%, and reduce travel time by 41%. The authority is also studying the implementation of a trackless tram project across eight locations in Dubai, further advancing the emirate’s vision of a smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem.
