The United Arab Emirates and the United States of America have announced the launch of the UAE-US Artificial Intelligence Complex, with a capacity of 5 gigawatts—marking the largest project of its kind outside the United States. This initiative aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in AI and advanced technologies while providing regional computing services that support countries in the Global South.

The complex will be powered by a mix of energy sources, including nuclear, solar, and gas, ensuring environmental sustainability and high operational efficiency. It will also feature a scientific center that drives innovation in AI and reinforces the UAE’s position as a leading hub for advanced research and sustainable development.

The project will be developed and operated by G42 in collaboration with several American companies, as part of a new framework between the UAE and US governments known as the “AI Acceleration Partnership,” which seeks to streamline access to large-scale computing services.

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, emphasized that the complex reflects the UAE’s commitment to advancing innovation and global collaboration in the field of AI. Meanwhile, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick highlighted that the initiative boosts major investments in advanced semiconductors and data centers across both countries, with American firms set to operate data centers in the UAE and deliver managed cloud services across the region.

This complex represents a strategic move to strengthen technological capabilities and digital infrastructure in the region, supporting the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, innovation-driven knowledge economy.
