In a strategic move that reaffirms its leading position, Emirates SkyCargo, the air freight division of Emirates Airline, has announced the expansion of its global cargo network from East and Southeast Asia to destinations worldwide.

Emirates SkyCargo now provides over 21,000 tonnes of cargo capacity weekly to and from East and Southeast Asia, through a network that is the largest of its kind for any non-Asian carrier. This network covers 25 destinations across 12 countries and territories, including key facilities serving the region.

The company operates 44 dedicated freighter flights weekly to nine destinations in the region, in addition to 13 charter flights to ensure continuous capacity and efficient delivery. On the passenger side, utilizing belly-hold cargo capacity, there are 311 weekly flights operated by various aircraft such as the A380 and B777, resulting in departures from the region more than once every half hour.

The company’s management has emphasized that Asian markets are considered “future engines of global logistics” and deserve to be served with high capacity and exceptional readiness to meet the growing demand for fast, reliable shipping.

Tangible Projects and Real Numbers

Each week, Emirates SkyCargo transports massive volumes of consumer goods from East Asia, including:

  • Over 450 tonnes of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and other perishables.
  • 100 tonnes of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
  • 75 tonnes of electronics, semiconductors, and smart goods.
  • 180 tonnes of clothing.
  • Over 1,300 tonnes of e-commerce shipments.

The “Air Silk Road” Strategy

This step comes as part of the company’s ambitious vision to strengthen connectivity between Asian markets and Europe and North America, through an integrated network that enables goods to move swiftly and reliably. It not only facilitates exports and accommodates the increasing growth of e-commerce but also empowers companies to enter new markets that were previously difficult to access, shortening the time between production hubs and consumer markets.

Through this strategy, Emirates SkyCargo reinforces Dubai’s position as a key hub on the global trade and logistics map, turning it into a vital meeting point on the modern “Air Silk Road,” where cargo routes intersect to serve multiple economies simultaneously, driving sustainable growth across the region and the world.
