In a notable step toward enhancing regional integration, Kuwait announced on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the implementation of a new decision granting a visa on arrival to all foreign residents of GCC countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman), provided their residency is valid for at least six months.

The decision, issued by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, was officially published in the Kuwaiti Official Gazette Al Kuwait Al-Youm, replacing the previous 2008 ruling.

The goal is clear: to simplify travel procedures, encourage movement between Gulf countries, and drive tourism and economic growth forward. This development comes amid a series of updates to Kuwait’s visa system. In July 2025, the e-Visa platform was relaunched to provide more convenient options for GCC residents, including the ability to obtain a visa on arrival.

Earlier, in August 2025, a comprehensive electronic version was launched covering multiple categories such as tourism, family visits, and business, without the need to visit embassies.

Through these initiatives, Kuwait reaffirms its commitment to a more open tourism vision, enabling free movement among Gulf countries in a way that serves mutual interests and strengthens regional ties.
